The Cask Cooling Cradle for 9 gallon casks is a stainless steel saddle-style cooling coil designed to help maintain the correct serving temperature of cask conditioned real ale.

Designed to sit over a standard 9 gallon firkin, the cooling cradle circulates chilled water around the cask to provide effective temperature control during service. It is particularly useful for back-bar cask ale installations, beer festivals, events and locations where traditional cellar cooling is not available.

For best results, the cask cooling cradle should be used underneath a suitable insulated cask cooling jacket, helping retain the cold around the cask and maintain a more consistent temperature.

The horizontal saddle design allows the cask cooler to sit directly over a 9 gallon firkin while chilled water from a suitable remote cooler or recirculation system passes through the stainless steel tubing.

This removes heat from around the cask and helps maintain the ale at the required temperature without the beer itself passing through a product cooling coil.

How Does a Cask Cooling Cradle Work?

The cask ale cooling cradle is positioned over the top of the horizontal firkin. Chilled water from a suitable remote cooler is circulated through the stainless steel coil, removing heat from the area surrounding the cask.

An insulated cask cooling jacket is then fitted over the cask and cooling cradle. The jacket helps retain the cold and reduces heat gain from the surrounding environment.

This provides a practical way of temperature controlling cask ale where a temperature-controlled cellar is unavailable or where casks are being served remotely from the main cellar.
