Suitable for Drinks Dispense Installations

PTFE tape is a useful consumable for drinks dispense engineers working with compatible threaded fittings.

It can be used on appropriate threaded connections found throughout beer, beverage, cooling, cleaning and water systems.

PTFE tape should only be applied where the threaded connection is designed to use a thread sealant. It is generally not required on connections that seal using a washer, gasket, O-ring, cone or other dedicated sealing component.

How to Apply PTFE Thread Seal Tape

For a typical threaded connection:

1. Ensure the threads are clean and undamaged.
2. Wrap the PTFE tape around the male thread in the direction that allows it to tighten as the fitting is assembled.
3. Keep the tape flat against the threads.
4. Avoid excessive tape or allowing loose material to enter the pipework.
5. Assemble and tighten the fitting correctly.
6. Check the completed connection for leaks before putting the system into service.

The amount of tape required will depend on the fitting and thread type.

Important

Always confirm that PTFE tape is suitable for the specific fluid, gas, pressure, temperature and thread type being used.

Do not use PTFE tape as a substitute for a washer, gasket or other seal where the fitting is designed to use one.

For gas installations, use a thread sealing product specifically approved for the particular gas and application.
